Notice: 1099’s for 2011 and future years: IRS is REQUIRING all
landlords OR entities that pay by cash or check (credit card purchases are
omitted) and take deductions for supplies or services to issue 1099 MISC to
ANYONE (corporations, partnerships, individuals, etc) who is paid $600 or more
annually. In order to prepare for this we are requesting you either call us so
we can furnish you a copy of form W9 or you can download same at www.irs.gov. Search
W9. You will give this form to whomever you have hired BEFORE you pay them.
This insures you will be able to issue the 1099 since sometimes they refuse to
provide you with the information after they are paid. You will not be allowed
the deduction if no 1099. The IRS is adamant and will more than likely target
certain taxpayers for audit if there is no 1099 on file. Even though there is a
bill in Congress to omit corporations from receiving these 1099’s, for now it’s
still required. We will post any changes on this matter as they occur. As
always, please call if you have any questions.

Audit Representation
Taxes, the IRS and You
It is important that you understand how the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) views you as a taxpayer. When conducting an audit, the aim of the IRS is to collect the maximum amount of revenue from you, as a taxpayer, in the least amount of time. The IRS attempts to make adjustments on the filings of those taxpayers who lack professional representation and who are the least willing or able to come to their own defense.
It is well documented that information in IRS databases on taxpayers, is not always accurate. Unfortunately, this can affect you directly in the form of significant overpayment of your tax liability, including penalties and interest.
According to a recent study conducted by Money Magazine, nearly half of the 30 million IRS penalty notices mailed out each year are erroneous. Furthermore, recent results of an IRS internal audit found that the information provided to taxpayers by IRS employees answering the agency's toll-free hot line is incorrect at least 30% of the time! This incorrect information costs individual taxpayers thousands of dollars in penalties and interest.
You're Not Alone
If you receive an IRS audit notice, your first reaction may be: "Why me?" You may feel threatened, isolated and alone. You can put these feelings and concerns aside. As a CAS client with Audit Representation Coverage, your CAS audit advocates are only a phone call away. With CAS, you are never alone.
